The power of social media is not hidden. The results are instant and there is no looking back for an individual or an organization once the individual or the organization is popular among the social networking websites and other portals that are providing social media services. Before devising a social media strategy however one should be quite sure as to what exactly needs to be done and how it will be done. As Social media is a two edged sword if something goes wrong in the strategy the whole marketing campaign will be ruined.

Keep in mind that the social media campaign is not a sale pitch its something more than that. Social Media will represent the face of the organization to the whole world and you cant afford to loose face before the whole world. Another thing to remember is that social media never sleeps although your business hours are fixed still the social media activities keep your organization working in the virtual world. Don't expect others to like or respond to your posts and tweets by remaining aloof and not responding to your fans and friends. You need to be interactive on the social media scene.

Make sure to keep your updates professional and make your page on the social networking website as professional and best as it can be. There is a lot of traffic that is waiting on there to come on your website. Keep your personal social networking account separate from your business account.

Keep the updates real and don't break the continuity. Make sure you don't post repetitive content time and again this will bore your target audience and they will loose interest in your fan page or your account that you have maintained for a purpose. If ever there is something that you don't really like and has been posted in your context don't be impulsive in answering back or taking an action. This may look like you are on a defensive when the whole world is watching you.

The most important thing is to be in your niche. Know your customers and the people you are targeting. Keep a profile of the kind of clients you are looking for and make it a point to find specific people who fit your target audience in the social media campaign as the conversion rate of the business in a niche is too high than targeting the general public.
