Small Business Internet Advertising - 1 Killer Free Strategy
Small Business Internet Advertising - 1 Killer Free StrategySmall Business Internet Advertising - 1 Killer Free Strategy By Jared Broker As a small business owner, your primary worry is most likely keeping costs to an absolute minimum. Another worry close on the heels of that is getting your name out to a relevant customer base within your city or local area and gaining an edge over the competition. All of these concerns can be addressed in the following small business internet advertising strategy. It is especially important to get your business advertised on the web these days. Consumers are in the habit recently of searching out businesses through search engines. They are less inclined to browse through newspaper ads or yellow pages. While most small business owners believe that in order to target customers on line, they need to hire a marketing agency, this is simply not true. Here is a brief outline to get your business name listed in the first results of Google for absolutely free on your own. Step 1: Research keywords and competition on the search engines. The basis of small business internet advertising is knowing what keywords your potential customers are plugging into search engines to find a product or service. A great place to begin is the Google keyword tool. Simply run a Google search for "keyword tool". You can brainstorm a list of words that you know would point to your business, while adding some location words such as your city or county. The keyword tool will spit out related phrases and the amount of searches performed for them. Next, you need to test for the competition of certain keywords that look like they are relevant to your business (hint: the longer the string of words, the less competition.) You can do this by typing the phrase into Google wrapped in quotes. This will return the amount of sites that are competing for that exact phrase. If it is 5,000 sites or less, you have an excellent shot at getting listed on the first page of results for that wording. Make a list of the phrases that have some searches being performed, but are low on competition. 2. Use a blog to target these keywords. I use Blogger.com because it is run by Google and is likely to end up high on the search results. Take your keyword list created above and make a blog with these words in the URL and title. Write about 400-600 words and place the keywords in the text 1-2% of the time. You can tweak a blog to make it look like a company website. Create a new blog for each keyword phrase that is on your list. This process is called search engine optimization and should have your blogs on the top listings for those targeted words. 3. Submit articles to free directories. There are hundreds of free article directories you can utilize for small business internet advertising. The top ones, such as this one, will allow you to get on the first page of Google using the same writing technique as the blogs. Make sure it does not sound like a sales pitch and offers useful information. You can have your article linking to your blog. When someone reads your article, they will visit your blog and find out about your business. While this is an involved process, it can get your small business some exposure and hopefully boost sales for you. About the author Again my name is Jared Broker.
