Residual Income - What Is It?Residual Income - What Is It? Recently I was talking with a young man (Steven) who had expressed an interest in diversifying his sources of income. He explained to me that he had an okay job, but he added that he really could use an extra three to four hundred dollars a month. As we talked a bit more I realized that he was truly serious about trying something new so I asked him if he had thought about involving himself with an opportunity that could create "residual income" for him. He looked at me with a puzzled look on his face and asked me, 'what's residual income?' Well you know I did in fact explain to Steven what residual income is and the possibilities that it offers. After speaking with Steven I thought to myself, how many other folks are out there, looking for something different, but they have no idea about residual income. So because of Steven I sat down and wrote out this little bit of information for anyone out there like Steven, who is asking his question, 'what's residual income?' Residual income, as opposed to linear income, is income that continues to be generated after the initial effort has been expended. In other words, it's putting forth an effort one time but being compensated for it over and over again. Most of us are used to making money the old fashion way, (linear income) exchanging hours for dollars; it's called having a job. Been there done that; nothing wrong with it. However and this is important, just like any good financial planner will tell you that you need to diversify your savings portfolio, when you are working for a living you need to diversify your streams of income. And that does not mean that you have to get a second or third JOB to do it. You know that residual income is the "real deal" when the income it derives comes from a suite of products and services that people are already using every single day. If you could be paid, month after month, for your one time effort, wouldn't that be amazing? It gets better, when you are paid for providing multiple products/services and savings, to each of your customers, month after month, that's what I call residual income and that is Huge.
