There is a certain way to do this though; blogs and static sites can be different in the way its done, but with proper knowledge of ad placement, ad network decisions and affiliate marketing product choices you can better acknowledge how to get the most out of what little you may have at first. Ad Networks Using Ad programs like Google AdSense and AdBrite are two of the best ad programs to use when you plan on monetizing your site. Both programs work similarly and they both are trusted by publishers worldwide. In general however, you need the traffic to be able to make a profit from ad networks alone. Because of the usefulness of ad networks and what they give to the publisher, many webmasters tend to mix ad networks and affiliate marketing products to earn a higher income. Affiliate Marketing Affiliate marketing in general is a great way to earn residual income. How does that work? Some products that you promote to your viewers will have a monthly payment attached to it, in this case, you will receive a commission every month of the product sold. To be a successful affiliate marketer, you already must have the trust of your viewers; this means, giving them the best of the best and not giving them products that just give you the most commission. Sure this may work at first, but you'll soon find yourself losing income if you try to receive more than you give. Selling Ad Space If you decide to sell your own space on your site, its best to have lots of traffic so that way you'll have interested advertisers. Setting a price for the ad should be based on the traffic and its location on the page. Naturally, the more noticeable the ad the more expensive it will be, and vice versa. Remember to always take into account the traffic that will be brought to that particular ad location. It takes experimentation so that way you can monetize your site effectively. You can still use programs like Adbrite, and utilize the marketplace to make it easier on yourself, but you can always decide to use your own process at anytime Always remember the basics before you monetize. Content, traffic, and trust are fundamentals to have in order to start monetizing a site. When you become an infopreneur its best to understand that its up to you to find out what works best; so consider it a trial and error process. Don't get discouraged if you're not seeing income at first, usually its because of traffic or poor ad placement.
