It is true that you can earn massive amounts of money online with relative ease but just like in any other business you first have to cover the basics. The basics in internet business are simple. There are 4 simple steps you need to take to build the foundation of every successful online business. Without taking these steps then you will not have a business that will succeed online. Basic step #1 is - Get A Domain. Yes you can sell items online without your own domain but to be successful you really should you're your own domain. The difference is like renting your home and owning your home. When you rent (or use a free domain) then you are open to your landlord's whims. He may decide one day to kick you out, increase your rent, or not fix the leak in your roof. But if you own your own home you are the master of your domain. Basic step #2 - Get A web host So now that you have your own domain you now need to find a reliable host. This is like finding a good neighborhood to build your house in. Find a web host that has the customer service you need, is able to hold and process the information you need and has the built in software and functions you need. The better your host the better your internet business will run. Basic step #3 - Set up a list You want to be able to capture the names, email and more information if you can from your visitors. The internet is a busy place and often your visitors will not purchase from you when they first see you and probably won't remember you once they leave your site. So to ensure you can talk to them again set up a system so that they give you their permission to send them an email. Often you will have to give them something for free to do this but it is worth it. Basic step #4 - Set up a website This seems obvious but so many people don't do this step. They simply redirect their domain address to an affiliate link. To be success online you need your own website. On your website you need to create a presence. Let your customers know you so that they can trust you and then buy from you. Once you take these 4 basic steps you can then figure out what pretty little pieces of software and gadgets you want to add to your business. But without taking the time to build the foundation of your internet business you will soon be just another causality of chasing the get rich quick schemes.
