Internet Advertising Options
Internet Advertising OptionsInternet Advertising Options By Andrew Mollison When it comes to promoting your site on the Internet the range of options is so open wide then it can be confusing as to where to start - You have banner ads that you can have made, and pay people to have them on their sites, but then it means that you have to track down suitable sites and then contact the owners directly and even then they may not be interested in your advertising campaign. (Banner exchanges are to be avoided as you have no idea who's site will have your banner on it, nor will you have any control of the banner, in exchange, that is shown on your website.) You also then have a few options, do you pay per click through or pay per view? Or you have Pay Per Click (PPC) ads whereby you pay one of the larger Internet companies such as Yahoo, Bing or the two big guys in the market Google and Facebook to advertise on. These ads are called Pay Per Click as you only pay the advertiser when someone clicks through on your advert. In theory this sounds like a great win-win situation, however you have no guarantee that the person clicking through on your Pay Per Click ad is a targeted click or just a casual surfer. A lot of the results that you get with pay per click are down to how well your pay per click campaign is run. If it is run efficiently then the results are great, if not then you will probably give up on Pay Per Click as a form of advertising. Or you could approach one of the larger Internet providers such as Yahoo to place banner ads on their home page, however you may find the cost of this form of banner advertising very, very expensive with certain Internet providers even rumored to be selling ad space by the hour. All of the above options you may notice, involve you spending a lot of time and money on them, for what may or may not be a good return on your investment. So hang on what are your other Internet advertising options? Well are there not some free ones? After all do not some very popular sites generate huge amounts of traffic for free? Well indeed there are but this does involve a lot of Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) in order to get your site noticed and start getting free traffic. Now there is a lot you can do yourself to help your SEO, however it can take time, and be a long learning curve, just type in "SEO" in any search engine and see what we mean, and like most people you will simply be baffled by the sheer amount of information available on the subject, as there are so many conflicting bits of information. So you would be far better placed before going and spending any money on PPC or banner advertising, and going and sitting down and talking with an SEO company who can turn your investment in to long term free traffic.
