Recently I had the opportunity to attend a 2-day Internet Business Live Seminar in Kuala Lumpur just to learn and pick up some insider secrets and future trends from 2 internet marketing gurus, Patric Chan (from Malaysia) and Ewen Chia (from Singapore). Judging from crowd in the hundreds, I could see that there were many who showed very keen interest in internet business. As an internet marketer myself, I need to constantly learn and be updated on new technologies, information and insights from others. I also have the chance to make new friends along the way. It is also important to get out of the normal routine of just sitting on the chair and staring at the computer for long hours daily which can be physically stressful to the body. Both these speakers shared about their own experiences on how they use their passion and found success in internet marketing. They listed out 3 simple yet powerful self-help principles that they followed even before actually getting into the internet marketing business. These are also principles that only 3 percent of successful internet marketers adhere to religiously. 1. Business built on proven system It is crucial that in order to do an internet online business well that brings in consistent income, a proven system must be known and employed. It is just as simple as doing a correct method over and over again to achieve the desired results. This may sound boring, but this is exactly what successful people do. The problem is people tend to change the system along the way, get distracted and try unproven trial and error methods. Then they wonder why they do not get the required results. So lesson number 1, stick to a blueprint system. 2. Make goals with a deadline It is not new that people are taught the importance of making goals in life. We see that especially when people makes new resolutions at the beginning of every new year. The problem is not in the goals setting but rather the lack of determination and urgency in achieving the set goals. In other words, most unsuccessful people are not desperate enough to want to achieve the goal. The other reason is people do not put a clear deadline for the goal. So they procrastinate with no end in sight. So lesson number 2, be desperate for success. 3. Do things that matter There is a saying that goes like this, "Don't sweat the small stuff". We all face this situation unconsciously especially while surfing the internet. Normally people tend to use up a lot of time doing things which are unproductive first like reading emails, viewing YouTube videos, chatting on Facebook, playing online games which can be quite addictive, looking at some interesting offers not realizing a few hours have just been wasted easily. The following is just to show how much time people spent averagely per session on Facebook alone! There are also people who like to figure out the technicalities of how things work rather than just using the available tools or resources. A good illustration of this is travel by air. We do not need to understand how an airplane engine works in order to fly. We just board the plane to get to our destination, right? Lesson number 3, do important and productive things.
